Living well with illness

Our Community

Who we are

We are a community of people handling the challenges of living with chronic illness or disability.

What we believe

We are committed to pursuing living full lives despite the frustrations and limitations placed on us by our illness or condition.

We believe, above all else, that we are so much more than our illness. We will not allow our condition to define who we are or dictate how we live. It is only one aspect of our lives – not our total lives.

We also aim to gently challenge others who choose to see us as ‘defined by our limitations’ rather than ‘defined by our strengths and our courage’.

It is our hope that our community becomes not just a stage in your life but a new way of living. That you become fully involved in making changes in your own life as well as drawing deeply on the support of others in the community.

What we can offer you

Our community has much to offer..

Our Life Programs

‘A Little Unwell’ is a 6 topic program that is intended for people who are living with the daily challenges of having a serious illness or medical condition.  Although different conditions bring different challenges, this program is most concerned with the emotional journey of living well –   despite illness or disability.

Special Interest Groups

An opportunity to join together with others sharing similar areas of concern such as living with diabetes, cancer, asthma.

Library Resources

Access to the ‘Living with Illness and Disability’ Resource Library which includes articles of interest, inspirational images and words of wisdom.

Opportunities to share your own thoughts

Perhaps the most powerful influence in our lives is other people. By listening to others’ stories and sharing our own, we are able to continue moving forward and growing long after we have completed a program.
